As with most games there are guides avaliable for the Swtor. A few things to look for before purchasing one are:
Value:
Value for the money, this means is it worth it ? Look for guides that contain high quality information and that include pictures and videos. This makes it easier to follow them. Not only that but look for guides that include multiple things such as leveling up, game walkthroughs, how to earn more credits, and so on. Lastly make sure the price is right ! You dont want to spend to much on a guide. The fact is that most of things your learn from a guide can be figured out but it takes time, so owning a guide just cuts your learning time in half.
The guides that only give you a basic overview and basic knowlegdge of the game should be avoided as you really wont get anything out of it. You'll just waste your money.
Free guides vs Paid guides:
Lets cut the BS, there are a few good free guides that you can find on the forums but other than that they wont get you very far. The problem is people dont put too much effort into making a free guide. You wont find pictures and videos that walk you through each step, you will find just the general information and if you never played the game it wont help as you wont know what the guide is even talking about. The nice thing is that its free but not much of help.
On the other hand a paid guide is made by a proffesional who put in many hours into the game and into the guide making it helpful to new players. These guys put the time and effort to making the guide the best they can and include many graphics along the way. The best thing is that it gets updated with the game. Say if a new patch comes out the people will update the guide so it works with the new game patch.
Find a guide that covers what you want to learn. If your not interested in the dark side dont get a sith empire guide, easy as that.
Extras:
If you end up buying a guide look to see if it includes any extra features such as PVP guides or how to earn money, its always nice if they throw in a extra features for the same price.
